Black and bronze were prominent colours in sculptures in Egypt.
The rich fertile soil of the Nile river is black. This is what nourished and stained the Egyptians. It is considered as a symbol of fertility, life, resurrection. Black marble was used to make statues of deities, to honour them. The Egyptian god of afterlife, Osiris, is depicted in black marble statue.
Bronze was the metal used for casting, apart from the fact that it adds richness and elevates the creation to the next level.
