As Martin Luther King said, "Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed." The division of the country took a very heavy toll on the people. More than 10 million people were displaced. There was racial tension and violence leading to innumerable deaths.

It has not been possible to connect with friends and family the way we used to. I have missed painting on Thursdays with my artist friends.
