Canadian Flag

Colonel George Francis Gillman Stanley, designer of the Canadian flag, was an author, historian, former Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick (1981-87), a soldier, and a professor at Mount Allison University. He was the founding director of the Canadian Studies program at Mount Allison University.

He is remembered proudly by Sackville citizens and Canadians for his various contributions, among them is the design of the Canadian flag.
