Intercoloniaal Railway operated from 1872 to 1918 connecting the provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec, and Ontario. During the Confederation of 1864 in Charlottetown and Quebec city the negotiations took place to construct this railway which will initiate the entry of Maritime colonies into British North American Union.
