Intercolonial Railway Bridge

Arrival of the Intercolonial Railway on July 1, 1876 joined the provinces of Quebec, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia.

Sir Stanford Fleming was the chief engineer for Intercolonial Railway. He recommended the building of this iron bridge [ Link ].

The Intercolonial Railway was the first major project undertaken by the new Dominion of Canada. This was a condition of entry of the Maritimes in the confederation.
