Stedmans Lounsbury

Stedmans is a chain of department stores in smaller towns and cities.

The first Stedmans store started as a stationary store in Brantford, Ontario.

During the 1950s and 1960s there were nearly 1000 Stedman and affiliated stores across Canada.

The affiliated stores were privately owned and operated under different names. Their purchasing was done through Stedmans.

Many of them had a bargain section [ Link ].

On Main Street in Sackville, next to Stedmans there was the Lounsbury furniture store as shown in the photograph.
