The Story Behind

This black and white print is a part of the series, “Lessons Learned from Six-year Olds”.

It is a limited edition of 35 printspart of a series of 35 original prints, each individually printed by the artist.

The inspiration for this print entitled, 'Focus' came from my six-year old granddaughter. Her story is a reminder that it is extremely important to have a clear focus of what one wants to do in life. Without a clear focus, we go through life is like a rudderless ship.

Ever since she was four years old, she wanted to skate and play hockey. She asked her mother if she had been registered for hockey. Well, she was too young to play.

The following year she declared, "Well Mom, I'm playing hockey whether you register me or not!", and she did. She has been playing hockey ever since then!

She is extremely focused on what she wants and gives it her 100%. She is in it to win it.

The story doesn't end here. One day she was standing behind her one and half year old cousin who was trying to climb the stairs but couldn't get her leg up to the next step. The six-year old watched for a few minutes and then said firmly,"Focus, focus, focus".

Unwavering focus on what one intends to do along with 100% effort is the key to success.

50% from the sale of this print is donated to Atlantic Wellness Community Centre.
