Prayer

CA$ 395.00 CAD

This painting is very different from other paintings in its presentation. It has a smaller canvas mounted on top of a larger canvas which serves as a frame. The larger canvas has very interesting texture and luminous colours to complement the painting. This painting of flowers is entitled, 'Prayer'. When do we use flowers? Flowers are used to offer blessings, offer prayers, bring greetings, and good wishes for many different occasions - weddings, graduation, birthdays, funerals, and prayer in a temple or church etc. Why do we associate flowers with prayer? Flowers symbolize purity. They are delicate, precious and fragrant creations of nature. Flowers uplift the spirit and touch us deeply, exactly the same way as prayer does.

The Story Behind

"I used to believe that prayer changes things, but now I know that prayer changes us and we change things." Mother Teresa

This, in a nutshell, is the essence of praying. Prayer evokes feelings of nobility, and goodness within us. It allows us to deal with difficult situations in a calm and collected manner.

I grew up in India. In India we offer fresh flowers to the deities every day when we pray. Flowers are aa symbol of beauty, purity, gentleness, and fragrance. These are the things we wish to have in our life. Flowers evoke a feeling of upliftment, gratitude, calm and serene beauty. This is the inspiration behind this painting.
