Soaring on Hope

CA$ 469.00 CAD

This mixed media painting has a mix of abstract and figurative elements. The image of a ballerina soaring through air is akin to soaring on hope. It makes me think of a dancer gracefully leaping through the air and expressing her deepest emotions through the visual sculptures she creates in the air.

The Story Behind

"Today is your day to dance lightly with life, sing wild songs of adventure, soar your spirits, unfurl your joys." - Jonathan Lockwood Huie

What if we were to treat life like a dance? Why not dance through life just as a ballerina soars through the air? A lot of hard work goes into coming to a stage where a ballerina soars through the air and glides across the stage just like a fresh breath of air. In other words, there will be challenges and roadblocks. Just rise above them.

In creating this painting, I wanted to use some things that symbolize hope. The ballerina's shoes are made of sunflower seeds. When you plant one sunflower seed, you have numerous sun flowers that in turn fill your heart with joy as you look at them. They produce many many seeds that will continue to spread the joy. The various rich and vibrant colours trailing through the painting diagonally are colours of life. Ballerina's skirt is at the top right. She is right out of the painting. The message I wanted to convey is that we must dream big and strive to achieve those dreams.
