The story Behind
Greece is the birth place of democracy and our civilization. The word democracy is derived from two Greek words - demos (people) and kratos (the rule). It is to say that the authority of the ruling power comes from the will of the people. It is based on the fundamentals of freedom of speech, expression, association, assembly etc.
Seeing the Acropolis and the Oracle of Delphi in ruins made me feel sad.. I thought of all the battles that were fought there, the sacrifices that were made .... stories of chivalry and struggles of generations lie buried in these ruins.
This is not a unique situation. It is the case in every country's iconic abandoned buildings.
