Canadians love ice hockey. It is our national sport. Ice hockey is a serious competitive sport as well as a recreational one. As the sun sets over the frozen ponds in winter, the children lace up their skates, and families gather to play for fun. Laughter and slap shots fill the air, creating memories of fun times and bonding. It’s not competition—just the pure joy of gliding on ice together that brings the families and friends closer together.

"Dreams are so important. You need to have big goals and expect a lot of yourself but you have to enjoy the ride too." - Sidney Crosby
I am not a hockey player but I love to see the youngsters play hockey from a young age. I have a grand daughter who announced at age five that she was going to play hockey. The hockey gear probably weighed more than she did. The practices were early in the morning but did that deter her from playing hockey? No way! As an adult she continues to enjoy the sport. She is playing field hockey competitively.
Hockey is no doubt a fun team sport. Not every child will be a famous NHL player like Sidney Crosby but one can certainly dream to be one and have fun while working towards that goal.
